Coaster Sets in Carbon Painted Mica Colors
These handmade clay coasters are individually decorated which makes each within the set a unique item.
The tile take about a month to dry. They are then finished before firing to about 1300 degrees. Each set of four is decorated in succession so that the set has the best chance of matching...but even then, variation occurs and gives unique qualities to the set.
The entire decorating process starts when the Interference Mica colors are applied. When the coasters are removed from the kiln, feathers are laid onto the glowing surface and carbonized into the clay. The smoke from the carbonizing process reveals the Interference Mica color. The pieces are cooled, each is washed, dried, sprayed with an acrylic coating and cork bumpers are added to the bottom to protect your furniture.
Approximately 4 x 4 inches. Four in the set.
